DESCRIPTION
🍷 Roselle (red hibiscus) is a striking herbaceous plant, known in English as "Rosella." Steeped, the extract from its petals gives a deep ruby cup with a tart, cranberry-bright snap. 🍷 In the past, roselle was regarded as a drink of the upper classes, a cup poured at gatherings and prized for its jewel-like color as much as its flavor. 🍷 As the world advanced and research was carried out, roselle flowers were found to be rich in nutrients such as Vitamin C (a very stable form of the vitamin). They also contain citric acid, malic acid, potassium, and "anthocyanin" — the same compound found in blue-purple fruits and vegetables — but roselle contains up to 50% more. 🍷 To this day, roselle tea is often one of the most popular items during tea festivals in Japan, poured wherever a sharp, fruity infusion is welcome.
